Deep Sea Fishing in Phuket
If you are into deep sea fishing, Phuket has quite a bit to offer. From day trips to week long fishing safaris, Phuket has it all and up to international standards for safety. We highly recommend that fishing enthusiasts only hire the services of the more upscale professional companies and avoid trying to cut corners and hire directly the local fisherman. The reason is straight forward, the tropical seas around Phuket can quickly in a matter of minutes turn from a turquoise calm waters to hell on earth, and when this happens you want to be on a much bigger boat with a professional crew than a local long tail boat. We will keep our recommendation for the local long tail boats to visit and explore Phang Nga Bay where the mangrove protects the entire coastline.
Deep sea fishing in Phuket and the Andaman Seas has not yet been massively discovered and yet it has a lot of offer with a wide variety of beasts like the black and blue marlins, tunas, king fish, dolphin fish (not a dolphin more of a tuna), wahoos, sharks and barracudas. The destinations most talked about are Racha islands (“Yai” and “Noi” which means big and small as there are 2 islands) Ko Rok, Ko Adang and in between the Island of Phuket and the Similans Islands.
